• destination: As far as we could go, we ended up just past the turnoff to Ericson Basin (Map)
• elevation: I estimate our peak elevation to be about 9500' when we were turned back by snow
• the group: Nick, Nate and the dogs, Nikita and Sonny

I am writing this blog over two years after we took this trip so I might not remember everything perfectly. I do know that this trip had some special circumstances. The first is that I had just quit smoking 3 days earlier on June 2 after 9 years of smoking. Needless to say I was kind of edgy. This was also my first trip using my first digital camera. The original plan was to drive from Logan to the Grand Staircase but that didn't happen. Nate had just put a new engine in his truck so we took it to break the engine in. The problem with that is Nate would only drive like 55 mph even on the freeway. Ahhh!!! Not a good situation for someone in their first few days without nicotine. Not good at all. About an hour into it we decided to go to the Uintas shaving about 4 hours off of our drive time.
