Dead Horse and Porcupine Passes Conditions

My brother and I will be heading out for a ten day, east to west Highline Trail trip in 16 days. I was wondering if anyone has any recent reports of trail conditions on Dead Horse and Porcupine passes. I spoke with a gal at the Duchesne Ranger station a few weeks ago and she reported that some work had been done by the back country rangers on Rocky Sea pass and that Dead Horse needed some work but had not been done yet. She said they were advising against scout trips over Dead Horse due to the conditions. Anyone have any recent experience with either pass?
