Flash Flood in Zion

Well, that's one way for Mother Nature to step in and reduce the crowds. Bummer for all those involved in the SAR rescue and whose vehicles got sutck in the mud and/or incurred any damage. For those who are curious to see photos of that carnage...here's some links:


 
I was hiking the subway Monday, got lucky with cancellations and snatched up an errant permit. Originally I was going to leave the next day but had more energy than expected after the hike and decided to head home a day early.

Always feels sorta weird when you escape something like that. I'd seen that it was supposed to rain the next day but didn't expect it to be that bad. Either way it was absurdly busy there and while I do always lowkey get grumpy over seeing that many people I do hope no one has gotten hurt.
