It's probably been a decade since I've been up to the Sister lakes in BCC. I'd like to run up soon for an overnighter. I remember it's pretty rocky. Can I find some soft ground to stake a shelter or should I carry a heavier free standing tent? Thanks!

Get there early and/or on a weeknight, and you will probably find somewhere to set up.

It's rocky in most places as one would imagine. However, there are spots where I have pitched my mosquito net in the past... the forecast is pretty dang warm the upcoming weeks with little chance for rain, so minus the bugs you can enjoy the stars, but if you want to pitch a shelter try the east side (left side of Blanche on arrival), or the south of Blanche, or the ridge between Blanche and Florence, or between Florence and Lilian by the dam.

I went up there last evening and only saw one person staying overnight. Pretty quiet up there.

Stayed there three times over night the past five weeks. There are plenty of spots towards Lake Florence and Lake Lillian both, higher up on some grass patches on the rock slabs and lower down next to the lake and in the trees. You should have no trouble finding a campsite. Enjoy!

As in Wednesday evening? That's when I camped up there. I made Blanche a little after sunset and by the time I found a spot near Lillian is was dark. I didn't see anyone else camping so it was probably me. I was surprised how few people I saw. Thursday was more busy.

Memory dulls how truly spectacular the area is. It's an amazing place to have so close. I found a great spot just past the Lillian dam in a copse of trees that provided nice shade.

As I was looking for a spot I noticed light behind the rear of Sundial. In complete awe, I watched one of the most beautiful moon rises I've ever seen, with Sundial silhouetted against the dark night sky.

The next day I found a great spot with panoramic views to eat. Captured some obligatory shots of Sundial then caught 50+ Brook trout! I caught at least 10 in each lake with Lillian fishing the best although I could have stood at the inlet of Blanche and caught all day long. I kept the same dry/dropper combo on the whole time and near the end my they were so beat up they were basically hooks with thread and I was still catching.

It was a quick but amazing trip! If like me it's been awhile since you've visited the area, do your self a favor and go back!

We headed down a bit before sunset. I thought I saw a hammock camp set up on the east side of Blanche.

So we must have passed you on our way down. I was with my wife and three other guys, but two may have been a tad behind us. I do recall passing someone with a fishing pole on the side of their pack.
