I snow shoed/hiked with my family to one of the yurts near Pebble Creek, ID. I made a Pulk Sled using an REI tutorial.

If you or someone traveling with you is new to winter camping I highly recommend starting out with a yurt. My kids loved it until they got cold on the way back.

The yurt had bunk beds and a wood stove so we were reasonably warm all night. My wife brought card games and other things to keep the younger kids occupied. Snowshoeing with a full pack and sled uphill smoked me faster than I thought even with very light elevation gain so be advised. I’m not sure why.

Anyway, I thought I would post post this for those itching to get out but reluctant to do so in the winter.

Love it! Your second to last picture when you are pulling the sled has some nasty weather in the background. Very dark clouds.

Good family time! That foot dragging kid in the second to last photo wasn't making it any easier for you

Notice the drag marks went for a while. My wife wasn’t exactly quick to help.

What a great time! Snowshoeing is definitely tiring and I have never pulled anyone behind me lol
Thanks for sharing!

That is awesome. I took some family snowshoeing in Idaho when I visited a couple weeks ago. We just went for a day outing but stopped by a yurt by Lowman. We ran into the people that had stayed the night before and told us it was still warm and they had an hour still. The kids didn’t want to leave until we mentioned the hot spring we planned o visit.

Also just curious what was the nightly rate for the yurt you visited?

It was about $50 a night.
