Highline Trail, Whiterocks to Mirror Lake Hwy

Does that Oweep Creek area have a name? I've heard it called informally Oweep Basin, but I wonder if "officially" it's just the upper NE extension of the Lake Fork Basin.

There's nothing on any of the maps I've seen, it just has Oweep Creek listed in that area.

Here's Day 4 video...Longer day on the trail makes for a bit longer of a video. Included is a little cameo of @Dan and his group when we crossed paths at Oweep Creek at right about 12:08. Wish we would have asked names at the time. You never know what social media acquaintances and fellow BCP forum members you're going to meet out in the backcountry. Emotions are running full circle now in light of the news that Dan was part of the recovery of the remains of Eric Robinson just two days later while continuing their own trip and that those remains were there sitting just across the Allsop Pass/ridge just a couple miles northwest of where we camped on this night.

I'm disappointed that my reaction to you asking how I felt as I made the top of Red Knob Pass didn't make the final cut of your video.

Haha!! I've been adding little blooper/outtakes to the very end of each video. Go to the very end and see what I did. ;):D

I forgot to update my opening title in the last video, so the perfectionist in me pulled it and will put up a corrected copy a little later today.

And...we're back in business. Corrected video is now back up above. Day 5 coming today.

Will, where do you get the music that you use to provide your video soundtracks? I presume that it's Creative Commons somewhat or other, but I'm curious where you find them.

@Dan; in the video, you mentioned you were heading to "Crater meadows." By that do you mean the area around Crater Lake? I'd love to see some pics of that area. It seems to be poorly represented on the internet; probably because hardly anyone seems to go there.

Hey @JoshuaDyal That's my name for the area over there, not sure if anyone else uses it. Hardly anyone goes there because it's often full of sheep, like it was on this trip (we had sheep or cows in nearly every single camp except for West Beaver and Middle Basin). Depending on where the Lakefork allotment is scheduled for their two week stints, you will have a crowd. I was hoping they were in Oweep or Upper Lakefork. Nope, we got to spend a night with them up there. You used to be able to find the grazing documents and check the schedule online, but I couldn't find it this year. Not that the sheepherders ever follow the schedule even remotely closely.

Here's a document from 2014 - interesting to peruse these things and see just how ridiculous the whole grazing arrangement can be up here. Can you imagine having 1170 head of sheep around that area? Complete and utter destruction. http://www.fs.usda.gov/Internet/FSE_DOCUMENTS/stelprdb5426885.pdf
