Yep, it is a cool place but is a long and bumpy drive to get out there.

It’s taken a while, but we finally made it to @Michael ’s hoodoos!

We also have some interesting spires and hoodoos on the Big Island: these are lava trees!!
When a lava flow engulfed these trees, the bark's moisture prevented the tree from burning.
Eventually, the lava drained away and left these casts.
You can tell how high the lava flow was.
The lava trees are definitely a cool feature, and there are many out here.

These are from the Mauna Ulu eruption; the lava flows were between 1969-1974.
I've seen young lava trees and tree molds from recent lava flows as well.

Nope, close to Spencer Canyon You once had those hoodoos as a “Guess the Spot”. Here’s a different view!
