The Hurricane Rim Trail is a fun desert hike/ride. It is singletrack with some being nice hard packed dirt, some rocky, some a combination of both, some rock slabs, and some steep sections with considerable elevation change. It follows the south rim of the Virgin River and snakes around a few deep tributary canyons. There are fantastic views of the Hurricane Valley including Hurricane and La Verkin, the Virgin River, the mesas, plateaus and temples of the Greater Zion area and expansive desert landscape scenes.

The Rim Trail has lots of hike/ride options including loops, out and backs and two car through hikes.

This hike is in full sun be prepared for a HOT desert hike in warmer months but in cooler months it is a great hike in near Hurricane!

Thanks for sharing all these St. George area TR's! There are a bunch of trails out there that I've read about, but can't find many pictures. It gives me some good ideas for future winter getaway trips.:)

Thanks Seldom Seen! You know that James Bond is mythical character, right  Your avatar is a double thumbs up ranger dude. Is that you?

I know you said there are many variations, but what are the average distances? Looking for more areas to mountain bike when I'm down there.

I have not ridden the entire thing but I do believe you are correct. Great riding! I love JEM!!! Just started riding Gould's and think it is great as well. Tyler next time your down let me know and be happy to show you or find someone who can.

It was me! I have been a teacher ranger teacher (full time school teacher, but a ranger in the summer) but because of sequestration I dont have the ranger part any longer! I need to change my avatar!!

A word of caution Tyler, parts of the Hurricane Rim are literally on the Rim! Spectacular views but I would be walking my bike on a section or two.

Same with JEM.. you are suppose to keep your eyes on the trail not look over at the drop off! I did have a friend that sent his bike off the section on JEM luckily he didn't go with it.

What Matt said! I would ride that trail anytime!!!
