Approaching the summit of Mt Columbia last week. #13 for me, and certainly not very lucky as far as the weather went lol.

Short vid for those so inclined:

In July of 2021 I finally had the great pleasure of climbing mt rainier with a group of absolutely average mountaineers up the disappointment cleaver route.

Unfortunately the summit photos are not quite as exciting as the actual climb.

View of mt Adams on the left and mt saint Helen’s on the right.

Okay, this is not the typical summit shot.
But I was actually standing at the summit, the summit of Kilauea, and shooting north towards Mauna Loa.
As long as I can remember, I always wanted to see Mauna Loa erupt.
My wish was granted, and I lucked out to just visit home for a few days to see it happen.

My second wish was to see Kilauea and Mauna Loa erupt at the same time. This has happened only a few times in the past, and it was even more impressive to enjoy this moment.
With two active volcanoes at the same time, I definitely couldn't complain.
I hope they both keep being active until I head home again in early January.

Absolutely incredible shot!

It was an incredible experience.
I totally lucked out with my trip home this time.
I can't wait to have this view permanently back again
Does that mean you're not going to be sticking around in Washington? Envious you have property there on Hawaii. I've only been to Kauai but absolutely loved it there (aside from the hordes of people). The Big Island looks looks even better since it's so large and appears to have more accessible public land.

Exactly, Iʻm moving home to Hawaiʻi for good in a few weeks. Iʻm just waiting for the paperwork to be done so I can bring my cat.
But I was just too homesick, and my Mount Saint Helens job was a seasonal position. I always wanted to go home, and right now, Iʻm going back and forth a few times to get my property ready and figure out which of the jobs I will finally accept.
