Has anyone been up the south fork Yellowstone trail to near Marston Pass? I’m looking to head up Woodard Canyon from Ferry Lake and then head east towards Younts and take the Buffalo Plateau south. I’m attaching a pic of my planned route, the green line is the south fork Yellowstone trail. This portion is one I don’t see any info on anywhere.

I'm pretty sure Joey and Scatman hiked that section several years ago.

I talked to Joey a couple days ago and unfortunately he said he hasn’t been through there yet. They headed east to Ferry Lake on the Marston Pass trail. On google earth the trail looks to get pretty narrow toward Younts, but the views seem like they’d be incredible. Was hoping there’d be some info out there, but guess I’ll be reporting on that haha.

Thanks a ton for linking me back to your report, I read that a while back and it’s absolutely incredible. On google earth it looks like it gets very narrow closer to Younts is that just the satellite or does it get narrow? Definitely some very beautiful country.

Are you asking if the S. Fork Yellowstone Canyon gets narrow up there? There is one section from about the west end of your green line to near the Woodard Canyon trail where it is narrow. Other than that, no.

All that area up there is wonderful. You should definitely go!

Yeah I had heard that closer to Younts it gets pretty narrow, but that was just second hand from someone who had only heard as well. Very much looking forward to it, we leave on July 23.
