In early July, Jenny West and I did the Inspiration Traverse, in the North Cascades. We got up 3 peaks and traversed 6 glaciers. We took our time and it took 6 days. Days above treeline in the Cascades, in good weather, is as good as it gets. Here is the first 3 days, including the ascent of Eldorado Peak
The route starts with a log crossing above a raging river
5,000 feet of ascent, over a day and a half, to get to high camp, over varied terrain
The spider that sat down beside her
1st camp
Livin the dream
Heading up the 2nd day
Mt Forbidden. west ridge on the right, north ridge left. We have 10 ascents between us
Sun cups and cravasses
The sound of collapsing seracs hourly
Home for a couple of nights
Evening light
The view the other direction. Klawatti Peak
On the way up to the peak
Youngsters caught us late on the ascent. Sigh
Summit
Back to camp
More to come.....
